日本においてGHETTO PRIEST（ゲットー・プリスト）という名前を初めて耳にする人も多いはずだが、彼の参加した作品を知ぬ内に耳にしているリスナーも多いはず。
過去、ON-Uを代表するアーティストであるAFRICAN HEAD CHARGEのメンバーとしてのキャリアを持つ彼は、現在ADRIAN SHERWOODのサウンド・システムのMCとして活躍している。また先頃リリースされ大きな反響を呼んでいるASIAN DUB FOUNDATION『Enemy Of The Enemy』のオープニング・トラックにヴォーカルとして参加していると言えばその実力に納得がいくのではないだろうか。そんな彼の歌声は、ON-Uの中でもひときわファンタスティックなシンガーであり、THE UNDERWOLVES、SINEAD O'CONNOR、GROOVE ARMADA、JAMES HARDWAY、LITTLE AXE 等、ジャンルを超え様々な作品にシンガーとして迎えられ、作品に独特の魅力を加えている。

Since On-U Soundﾕs inception there have been several philosophies that Adrian Sherwood has always held close to his heart. Whilst gathering a core of multi-talented singers and players around him in his continuous musical experimentation, he has always striven to help establish these artists in their own right and to nurture new talents that join his fold. Ghetto Priest is one such talent.

A member of the On-U Sound family for over a decade, having played as percussionist with African Head Charge throughout the ﾔ90s, in recent times Ghetto Priest has carved a name for himself as a vocalist. Groove Armada, Sinead OﾕConnor, Underwolves, James Hardway and Little Axe have all taken the opportunity to utilise his vocal skills and add a special flavour to their releases. Asian Dub Foundation invited him to sing on the opening track of their rated ﾔEnemy of the Enemyﾕ album and most recently, after a two-year stint as MC for Adrian Sherwoodﾕs live sound system, he features on Sherwoodﾕs own highly praised debut ﾔNever Trust a Hippyﾕ. With the 10ﾓ single ﾔDry Boneﾕ released early last year on Pressure Soundsﾕ Green Tea offshoot, a contribution to the On-U Sound sampler ﾔChainstore Massacreﾕ and a further 10ﾓ, ﾔMasters of Destructionﾕ, due imminently on Sherwoodﾕs new Soundboy imprint, the time is ripe for Ghetto Priest to finally release his own stunning debut ﾔVulture Cultureﾕ.

In time-honoured tradition, ﾔVulture Cultureﾕ is a full on listening experience taking on board reggae, raga and dub elements with a production style that is uniquely Sherwoodﾕs. Bubblers, Sly & Robbie, Jazzwad, Style Scott, Keith Leblanc and Skip McDonald are amongst the players providing the rock solid rhythms. Ghetto Priest takes centre stage on most of the albums 12 tracks but there is plenty of scope for other voices to add to the mix, amongst them the gravel edged vocals of Simon Bogle and the late Prince Far I and the incendiary Irish rapping of Ri Ra as well as contributions from Omar Perry, Junior Delgado and Denise Sherwood. This is one sermon you will not want to miss!
