『Power of seven』はCarl CraigやDerrick Mayとのコラボレ−ション・アルバム。本作収録の"Big Sky City"はヒップホップ、ハウス、ハードテクノ、ドラムンベースなどの様々なジャンルに影響を与えたと言われる衝撃作だ。
After kicking of their new label a-wave with the acclaimed re-release of their ﾕ95 classic ﾔAlphawave ﾕ, System 7 reissue two of their best selling and critically acclaimed album ﾕs: ﾔPower of 7 ﾕ and ﾔSystem Express ﾕ. Both albums were originally released in 1996 on Butterfly / Big Life, but due to the disbanding of Big Life have remained deleted for several years.
ﾔPower of Seven ﾕ, is System 7 ﾕs fourth and perhaps their most eclectic album to date, embracing hip hop, house, harder techno beats and drum and bass, this album was universally acclaimed by critic for bringing dances music ﾕs fragmented genres together on one cohesive album. ﾔPower of Seven ﾕ including collaborations with Detroit luminaries Carl Craig & Derrick May, ex Killing Joke member and producer extraordinaire Youth and The Orb ﾕs Alex Patterson. The huge club hits ﾔInterstate ﾕ and ﾔHangar 84 ﾕ were both singles from this album.
ﾔSystem Express ﾕ, released later that year, was culmination of System 7 ﾕs groundbreaking and illustrious career. It ﾕs a collection of their much vaunted and praised remix collaborations, some of which are exclusive to the album, others long deleted. The list of collaborators / remixers reads like a whose of dance: Carlo Cox, Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Youth, Doc Scott, Marshall Jefferson, Alex Patterson, Derrick May & Jacob ﾕs Optical Stairway. Take a snapshot of all that was groundbreaking in dance music in ﾕ96 and this album perfectly encapsulates it. ﾔSystem Express ﾕ is a continuous mix and features the recently re-released seminal club smash ﾐ Alphawave (Plastikan) remix.
